Cookie Policy
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies include localStorage entries and session storage. This policy covers all such technologies used on the Hypha Ltd website (https://hypha.ws).
We use these technologies in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and UK GDPR.
Your consent
When you first visit our site, a cookie consent banner is displayed. Only strictly-necessary technologies (which remember your consent choice itself) are active before you make a selection. Functional technologies such as our live chat widget are only loaded after you grant consent.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, see "Managing your preferences" below.
Cookies and storage we use
| Name / Key | Type | Purpose | Duration | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
hypha_consent_v1 | Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie consent choice (accepted or declined) so we do not ask again on subsequent visits. Without this, the consent banner would reappear on every page load. | 1 year (localStorage, persists until cleared) | Hypha Ltd |
| Chatwoot session cookies | Functional | The Chatwoot live chat widget sets cookies to maintain your chat session and conversation history while you interact with us. These are only set after you give consent. | Session / up to 1 year (set by Chatwoot) | Hypha Ltd (self-hosted Chatwoot) |
Strictly necessary technologies
The hypha_consent_v1 localStorage entry is strictly necessary: it is
required for the website to remember your privacy preferences. Under PECR, strictly
necessary technologies do not require prior consent, but we disclose this entry here
for transparency.
Functional cookies (live chat)
We self-host Chatwoot, an open-source customer support platform, on our own infrastructure. When you accept functional cookies and interact with the live chat widget, Chatwoot may set cookies or use session storage to maintain the continuity of your conversation.
Because we self-host Chatwoot, your conversation data does not leave our infrastructure other than as described in our Privacy Policy.
Advertising and tracking cookies
We do not use advertising, behavioural profiling, or third-party tracking cookies. If we were to introduce analytics tools in future, they would be consent-gated and disclosed in an updated version of this policy.
Managing your preferences
You have several options for controlling cookies and similar technologies:
- Cookie banner: When you first visit the site, accept or decline non-essential cookies via the banner.
- Clear site data: You can clear cookies and localStorage for this site at any time using your browser's developer tools or privacy settings (typically found under Settings → Privacy & Security → Clear browsing data). Doing so will reset your consent preference and the banner will reappear.
- Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies globally. Note that blocking strictly necessary storage may affect how the site functions.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of technologies changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any revisions. We encourage you to check back periodically.
